Project Recommendations and Exemplars

The following are the recommendations and project exemplars:

Recommendations

The project may want to increase the number of technical support staff to assist the second cohort of teachers both with their instructional and technology needs.

The project staff should continue to work closely with OTX and the Marcus Foster Institute as they attempt to provide upgraded computers and Internet access to families.

The project may want to explore ways to connect Cohort 1 teachers with Cohort 2 teachers.

The project should disseminate its model within and without the district.  Other professional development programs in the district and state should have the opportunity to learn about how Urban Dreams is integrating technology into the instructional program.

Exemplars

The professional development opportunities offered by the project are of very high quality and well received by teachers.

The project staff has managed to navigate the cultures of nine different high schools with success.  They are very well received by teachers in those schools.

The project’s website has taken shape over the last several months and now serves as a portal for important information.

Modeling of integration of new technology has resulted in requests by teachers in other disciplines for similar equipment.

The Computers for Families Program is providing training that is well received by parents.  Similarly, the computer placement process has now provided over 500 computers that are used by families for important activities such as job training and homework.
